Our Easter

I have never looked more forward to Easter as I did this year. I have to admit that the reason is VERY shallow. You see, I bought Tilly's Easter dress back in the fall when we went to South Carolina, and I could-not-wait for her to wear it. So, I didn't care that it was freezing cold and pouring rain and that hiding eggs outside today would be completely out of the question--she was wearing that dress and it was going to be a good day!

I'll be honest--I didn't have an Easter basket for Tilly last year. She had no clue, so I just didn't see the point. That being said, here she is with her first Easter basket. She loved playing with the eggs. We also got her the little bunny and chick that wind up and hop all over the place. It was pretty funny...although Baxter was not too fond of the little critters...

For some reason, Tilly was rubbing the eggs on her face like they were make-up applicators. Who knows why, but I took a picture any way.

When we woke up this morning, Tilly got to open see her Easter baskets/gifts. Bless her heart, she only had 2 baskets which were full of toys, plus she got a new back pack (super cute!) with two pairs of bloomers for the spring and summer, and she got a card and cash in the mail! So deprived...

Of course, we went to church after playing with Til's new toys. I love our church always, but today was especially great during worship. GREAT music!!! I hope everyone reading this (I realize it's probably just grandparents reading this...) was able to go to church this morning. However, I hope they were a little more focused than I. Let me explain...

Not surprisingly, it was PACKED at church, and like any other day of my life, we were late. Eric dropped Tilly and me off at the nursery and went to park the car. We always do this and then meet up in the sanctuary. When I got to the sanctuary, it was so crowded, and our normal seats were totally gone. But, a good Samaritan pointed me to where my family had relocated. I went to the other side of the church and found them--no problem. Well, I kept looking for Eric. He never came. I figured he was fine but I just never saw him. I later found out that he just didn't want to deal with the crowded sanctuary and just headed straight for the overflow room. Thanks, Eric!

Well, I did finally give up on him and decided to pay attention. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a police officer come in to the congregation and take a lady out of the service. I automatically think about Tilly and hope that she's okay. (My completely nervous brain always goes straight into freak out mode when I don't know what is going on.) The first thing to come to my mind was, "Maybe the lady is a a doctor and Tilly needs help in the nursery." I know what you're thinking... "if they needed you Leslie, they could just page you." Well, they could, but somehow, I walked away without the pager. I finally decided to calm down, that if they really needed me, someone would find me. By the time I came to this conclusion, it was time to go. Tilly was, of course, fine when I got her from the nursery. Needless to say though, I was too distracted during the entire sermon to walk away with much recollection. (This was not only because my mind was elsewhere--my notepad was in the overflow room with Eric.)

After church, we went to my mom and dad's for a delicious lunch. Afterward, we went to Eric's parents' for a midafternoon snack (or two.) Tilly got to play with Eric's brothers and sisters and her 8 week old cousin Micah.

Here is Keeli teaching Til how to "crack eggs."

I was nervous about how Tilly would act around the new baby, but she was gentle and even helpful. Micah's pacifier fell out as soon as Tilly walked up to her, so she just picked it up and tried to put it back in her mouth!

Later on, Emmi was giving Micah her bottle and Tilly decided she wanted to sit in Emmi's lap too. I automatically assumed it was out of jealousy. However, it turned out that SHE wanted to feed Micah her bottle. This cracked us all up!

I got to hold Micah and help feed her. Tilly helped me too. She LOVED Micah! I am so excited of what good friends they will be.

On another note, I have forgotten how to hold a new baby. I looked like a big ole fish out of water!!!!

If you can't tell how much Tilly enjoyed her day, here is a closer look...

By the way, I forgot to tell you how cute she looked at church in her dress. I hope she is recovering from her knockout in the nursery.
